My Favorite Daytime Moisturizers (the FULL Breakdown)

My Favorite Daytime Moisturizers (the FULL Breakdown)

I have around 7 months of skincare obsession under my belt, definitely making me a part-time beauty junkie. It seems as though you guys are just as obsessed as I am and one of your biggest questions has been about moisturizers. I broke down the 4 that I've used most frequently this year - the SPF, the price range, the feel, etc. etc. you get it.

L'Oreal Revitalift Anti Wrinkle Firming Day Cream

SPF: 25

Price Range: $10-20

Use: On its own/when you spot conceal

Review:

  • This has to be my favorite for actually feeling like your skin is hydrated. It gives a glow that you're terrified will come off as shiny, but doesn't. Praise you, L'Oreal.

  • This moisturizer isn't a matte base for your makeup. I prefer to wear this product on its own because of the 'glow' factor I mentioned above. I like to spot conceal with L'Oreal ProGlo Concealer if I want some coverage - no foundation.

  • I have gotten sunburnt with this product, so I don't know how much I trust the SPF. As a moisturizer, however, it is lovely.

  • It smells really super nice and light and wonderful and not at all like sunscreen (if that matters to you).

Neutrogena Healthy Skin Retinol & Anti Wrinkle Face Cream

SPF: 15

Price Range: $10-20

Use: Underneath makeup/on its own

Review:

  • This was my OG daytime moisturizer when I started my skincare journey, so it has a special place in my heart. It's great underneath makeup - very matte.

  • This is the perfect combo of sun protection and moisturizer. It errs more towards a sunscreen than a moisturizer, but it's still a good go-to.

  • I haven’t done all my research with retinol. It kind of scares me and I know there’s a million do’s/don’ts. So, because I’m uninformed on that topic, I’ve tried to use this cream sparingly.

  • If you love the smell of suntan lotion, this scent is for you.

Valjean Labs Replenish Hydrating Gel

SPF: 0

Price Range: $5-20 (I got mine on sale at TJ Maxi for $5 both times)

Use: Underneath makeup/sunscreen

Review:

  • Dis gel tho. It is perfect for summer. I love how cooling it is. It has hyaluronic acid in it, so it makes my skin feel spring-y and new.

  • There's no SPF, so I rarely wear it on its own. It makes a great base for makeup and sunscreen on top. I also wear it beneath my nighttime moisturizer. Lately, I’ve been wearing it under my EltaMD UV Daily Broad-Spectrum Facial Sunscreen.

  • The scent is so refreshing and subtle. I may be a little in love.

EltaMD UV Daily Broad-Spectrum Facial Sunscreen

SPF: 40

Price Range: $30-40

Use: As a foundation/sunscreen/moisturizer on its own

Review:

  • My new holy grail. But, only in the summer when I'm my version of 'tan.' This product is a little too dark for me (it only comes in one color), but once June hits, my goodness, it's all I want to use.

  • I have not gotten burnt with this product and it is amazing. I have also been very careful to wear a hat outside (anyone see my favorite dad hat from Instagram?), so I'm sure that helps.

  • The price is a little more than I wanted to pay for a face sunscreen, but it is worth it. I can't say enough good things about it. I apply it after I cleanse and tone my face in my morning shower and it simplifies my routine so much.

There you have it! My daytime moisturizing favorites as of right now. I'm in a consistent rotation with all of these, so if you have any questions, I'm your gal. Now, let's talk nighttime moisturizers/face masks. A post on that? xx
