My Advice for Feeling Your Best, Ladies
In the least creepy way possible, I've spent a lot of time observing women. Happy women, sad women, funny women, pretty women, athletic women. Women who sing to their reflection in the mirror of a public bathroom. Women who tear up on phone calls just outside the elevator. And every woman in between.
I've had beautiful women (I mean drop-dead gorgeous, beauteous, strong-browed, long-haired, full-smile queens) ask me for my advice. My advice? With genuine interest and timid slope-y shoulders, these women have asked me what they could do to make themselves better. My answer? Nothing. You’re already fabulous. Work with what you’ve already got (cuz it’s fabulous):
Eyebrows make the face. Even if you don't have cheekbones that cut like a knife or a jawline that just won't quit, you are still a beauteous being. Your eyebrows frame your face and they've got you, girl. Pluck as minimally as possible, focus on trimming. Brush your brows upwards and go. Don't have full brows? Brush your brows upwards and lightly pencil in teeny strokes - just like real hair.
When I'm getting ready, I always think about how I would like from 40 feet away. Chances are that no one will be all up in your grill throughout the day - most people will see you from a distance. Bold eyelashes make it seem like you're super feminine and sweet and lovely. I detailed how I get my eyelashes to do what I want here.
To me, brightness comes from texture not color. I encourage you to use a moisturizer with SPF by day and a rich, creamy moisturizer at night. Getting that sweet sweet glow comes from drinking a ton of water and moisturizing like your life depends on it (not dramatic). Crack the code on skin secrets right here.
Shape and Proportion
Outfits and makeup and hair (and even life itself) are all about balance. Mix and match so that you don't look too overdone, too baggy, too saggy, too much like you're on your way to prom. Pair a billowy top with a pencil skirt or a form-fitting top with boyfriend jeans. Match a heavy eye with a nude lip or just mascara with a bold lip.
Voila, you're ready to get out there and strut your stuff. Or just take a really nice selfie. What are your tips for feeling/looking fabulous? xx
