As someone who gets her picture taken pretty often, it may seem strange that I'm not hopping on the engagement photo bandwagon immediately. Has anyone else been on the fence about this? Here's what I think you need to consider when deciding on an engagement photoshoot:

  • Couple's Style. My personal style is all about a photoshoot for every occasion, but my fiance's isn't. It's important to remember both of your styles. Silly selfies and travel snaps are more 'us.'
  • Purpose. What do you really want these photos for? If you're using images for your save the dates, for your wedding website, or just your own memories, then I say go for it! If you're not in love with the idea of engagement photos, then hold off. I am not crazy about expending time, money, and energy on something I may not use. These pictures will cost you time, money, and energy.
  • Talent. Make sure you find a photographer that you truly enjoy working with. A personable and skilled professional is a must with engagement photos. You need someone who has a good eye for chemistry between people, locations, lighting, and editing.

What are your opinions on engagement photos? xx
