- Travel Update: D.C. -
Photo. Overload. In lieu of a 'Lately' this week, I decided to let you all in on my quick (and amazing ;) trip to D.C. I hadn't been since I was a kid, so I was beyond excited to get back! My maid of honor and I went to visit one of my other bridesmaids. We didn't get through a quarter of the D.C. sights that we wanted to see, but we did work through quite the restaurant list. Here goes!
We arrived Friday night after a full day of work and immediately relaxed at Proper 21. After unwinding with some crab dip and pizza, we moved onto the W Hotel's rooftop. It's apparently one of the best views of D.C. Although, in my opinion, Laura's apartment rooftop definitely rivals it ;)
We moseyed on over to Busboys and Poets for brunch late on Saturday morning. From there, Laura took us on a tour of the monuments (we didn't make it through them all, but boy we tried...)!
A tourist sweetly offered to take our photo in front of the Washington Monument...then proceeded to have us block the monument.
That started a trend with us accidentally blocking most monuments in every selfie. Behind us is Capitol Hill. I think.
I hear cupcakes are a must when you're in D.C., so Meghan and I figured - when in Rome! Laura took us to her favorite spot, Baked & Wired. Our cupcakes each had hilarious names that I now forget, but you'll have to take my word for it. They were so delicious. And I have eaten a lot of cupcakes.
We relaxed for a hot second before heading out for dinner. Margs over at Laura's favorite, Lauriol Plaza. Fueled by chips and salsa, we let Laura and her fiancé show us around. Meghan adorably had Laura and I both toast to our engagements :)
Sunday morning we ventured out to a spot Laura had been dying to stop by - Ted's Bulletin. The waitress talked me into a massive stack of pancakes that did not disappoint. After filling up, we saw the rooftop view of D.C. one more time before we made our trek home.
It's safe to say we loved our visit - Laura and D.C., we'll be back! xx
