- My Fitness Routine -
The transition of summer into fall is always a tough one for me. While everyone is cradling their PSLs and day-dreaming about sweaters with bedazzled sleeves, there's a part of me that's sad. It's not solely because I'm that weirdo who loves the heat (because that's also true). When fall hits, my workout schedule becomes all out of whack.
Fitness is and has been a huge part of my life. I remember being 9 or 10 and watching my mom teach a step class. Up, down, to the side, all sorts of aerobics lingo involved. I was a dancer from the time I was 3 until I turned 18. I still find myself involuntarily counting the beats of a song in my car. '5, 6, 7, 8...' Kickboxing, cycling, yoga, you name it - I've probably done it. This doesn't mean I'm necessarily a stellar athlete or incredibly in shape, but I do like to work out.
I know, I know, what does soul cycle have to do with pumpkin scented candles and knit scarves, Quinn?
I am the first to admit that I am insanely dramatic when it comes to my pool time. For me, swimming is meditative. It's a type of self-care that I can't get from any other activity. Binge-shopping? Fun, but expensive. Eating well? Sounds great in theory, but not always a roaring good time. Swimming? Not only do I get 1-2 hours of complete silence (my fave), but I also get a workout in and sunshine. Now why do you love fall again?
Thank you for letting me vent - now I would be more than happy to share with you what alternative exercises I've been up to lately. Below is one workout I do every night before my shower (no excuses) and one circuit I'll do 2-5 times per week:
100 plie squats
The 100 Workout
100 jumping jacks
70 leg lifts
60 jumping jacks
30 leg lifts
20 jumping jacks
Run for 30 minutes
Enjoy these super cute activewear pieces that I want now that it's no longer pool time. What's your favorite exercise, lovelies? xx
