- 4 Travel Tips -
I used to travel a ton - overnights on a whim, frequent weekends away, and my favorite, the weeklong 'vacation.' While I was engaged, I cut way way back on my travel budget. Now that those extra catering and flower bills aren't rolling in, I find myself falling into my old routine of booking trips. In 2018 so far, I've done Boston, Florida, New Orleans, and now Portland. Over the years my travel mishaps and triumphs (aka remembering my phone charger) have provided me with my most favorite tips:
1. Contact case for skincare. Put your facewash in one side and your moisturizer in the other. Long gone are the days of lugging around your coconut oil (and risking it spilling everywhere).
2. Pack outfits, not pieces. Place that pair of jeans with your favorite top together. Then that dress with the cardigan. Then those shorts with that shirt. Sensing a pattern? If you pack outfits, you're less likely to jam 100 shirts you 'might' wear into your suitcase.
3. Extra undies and an emergency tank top. I know, I know - I just told you to cull the herd when it comes to clothing. But that doesn't apply to underwear. I pack almost double what I need and throw a couple of pairs in my carryon/purse just in case. Also throwing a cami in your bag comes in handy. Just before your plane ride home, it's inevitable that you realize you've already worn everything you've packed. Cue the emergency tank. You're welcome.
4. The blanket scarf. This is a lifesaver on the plane and just in life. I use it as a pillow, as a blanket, as a poncho, and almost always wind up layering it with a jacket during every trip. You would be surprised how chilly almost every destination gets.
