4 Haircare Tips.jpg

I'm biased in my hair advice, considering I have dry, fine, curly hair. But I feel like a lot of my haircare routine can be translated to different hair types as well. Let's dive in:

  1. Oils. Jojoba and coconut oils are my favorite. I spray or gently dab some into my ends after a shower. This is something I love to do in the summer - I'll even add some oil in my hair after hopping in the ocean or pool. It smoothes away those tangles.
  2. Conditioner. You can skip shampoo, but never ever skip conditioner. Just don't do it. If you think your hair is 'frizzy' or 'out of control,' it is probably just dry. In the wintertime especially, leave a teeny bit of conditioner on your ends.
  3. Clarifying Shampoo. I'm a fan of moisturizing my hair, which means I need to do a good clean scrub at least once a week. Clarifying shampoo gets rid of any buildup that I have and leaves my hair bouncy.
  4. Less heat. No brainer, right? It's harder than it sounds. I didn't put a straightener to my hair until I was in college - you heard right, college. I thought only moms blowdried their hair daily. I'm definitely more of a makeup junkie than a hair guru, so embracing my natural texture comes easily to me. If I want to switch up my look I slick my hair into a bun following a shower and add in extra conditioner. The next morning I either keep it in a chignon or I embrace the loose-ish waves depending on how it dried. If I do dry and straighten it - I try to wait 2-3 days before my next wash.
